The History Department congratulates Caroline Soloway for winning a prize for her essay, “The Highbrow and the Vulgar: Issues of Race in Jazz Performance in Interwar London” from the Undergraduate Essay Prize Committee of the North American Conference on British Studies. Caroline wrote the essay for Professor Deborah Valenze’s London seminar last year and is currently writing her senior thesis with Professor Bob McCaughey on the Ulster Women’s Council and its role in Anglo-Irish politics.
