Inviting Applications for Barnard History Seminar, Spring 2021: HIST BC3670 Seeking Asylum: History, Politics, and the Search for Justice at the US-Mexico Border. The course examines the historical roots of the current asylum crisis, particularly as it impacts Central American migrants. It will be organized around a collaboration with Women’s Refugee Commission, an organization that advocates for migrant rights. Students will be assisting WRC with a storytelling project involving oral histories of migrant families. Fluency in spoken Spanish is a requirement for the course.The seminar is open to undergraduate students across the University regardless of college, year, or major.In order to be considered for the course, students should fill out this application (link also pasted below). The deadline to apply is December 1.
