On July 13, 2021, Abosede George, Tow Associate Professor of History and Africana Studies, was selected for a year-long fellowship by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, which is part of the New York Public Library (NYPL). George was one of seven exceptionally talented individuals accepted as a fellow for the 2021-2022 year for her work, “Migrating while Black in the Nineteenth Century Atlantic.” The fellowship allows access to the Center’s renowned research collections, staff, and sources focusing on materials related to the history and cultures of people of African descent, as well as the NYPL’s entire collection of books, periodicals, and archival materials.
